Yuppie Yogurt

I tried one of those Yoplait Whips! yesterday (i usually go for the regular kind) and the first thing i noticed is that it was significantly lighter in weight. So checked the container: 4oz. Not like the usual 6oz, and this one cost 10 cents more! The next thing i noticed was when i ripped off the lid...

"Eww, it looks all curdled!"

So i smelled it, and it seemed ok. I tentatively decided this was a result of the 'whipping' process, so i hesistantly dipped the edge of my spoon into the Whip and touched it to my tongue.

"Mmm, it's ok. Hasn't sent me into immediate convulsions yet..."

So i started eating it. Indeed, it was "so unbelievably fluffy, so incredibly light", and actually rather tasty. The slightly curdled texture was a bit unsettling tho, as i am used to the usually smooth, more pudding-like consistency of normal yogurt.

Don't know if i'd try it again, because i'm fine with my regular strawberry, cherry, or blueberry yogurt. But hey, its another win for Yoplait. More fluff = more money. And it's seemingly a win for the consumer, who likes expensive, airy, semi-curdled yogurt...

I usually don't like yogurt, but I probably would have eaten it BUT decided to never get it again just after seeing that they charge more for less food. That would be the way I work.

I bought some "yogurt desserts" - they're supposed to be "straciatella" style/flavour. I have no idea what a straciatella is, except that it sounds like an Italian food with layers, like tiramisu. The picture on the package looks like chocolate chip ice cream. The yogurt tastes like yogurt with chocolate chips, which is a weird combination. Perhaps next time I'll have to go for the raspberry tart flavoured ones, with real bits of crust in them!

Ah, tiramisu, the Japanese dessert... ;)

And watch out for refrigerated desserts that look too real -- when i was younger, i was SO looking forward to getting these strawberry-cheescake-in-a-cup things, and finally my mom gave in. I got home, ripped one open, and... it was moldy :( That has scarred me ever since!

Yeah, the whipped yogurts are messed up. 4 oz of yogurt jet-puffed into a regular container. After you finish it, I think you can continue to spoon the air in the container and obtain the same caloric intake.

Matt probably doesn't need any more calories, anyway, with his obese wrists.

Hey, just because some strange people mistake my wrists for boxing-gloves with little hands sticking out of them doesn't mean i shouldn't enjoy my full-calorie yogurt!

Back to basics is always a good idea. "What you see is what you get" (who needs all that fluff anyway--just costs more!) Dannon Coffee Yogurt for me anytime! You can add crunchies, like grape-nuts, granola, sliced almonds, yum!
